Sharjah Biennial 14: Leaving the Echo Chamber

Co-curated by Claire Tancons, Zoe Butt and Omar Kholeif under the theme Leaving the Echo Chamber, Sharjah Biennial 14 presents three distinct exhibitions. These feature over 80 artists and 60 new commissions including performances taking place on both Persian sea and Indian ocean coasts of the emirate. Linking the curators' platforms are the multiple works that engage and narrate cross-cultural histories that time camouflaged. The winners of this edition's award are Otobong Nkanga and Emeka Ogboh for their collaborative installation work, which can be experienced during the biennial, running through to 10 June 2019. Here's our first impressions.
