1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair is delighted to announce the galleries participating in the inaugural Marrakech edition, at La Mamounia 24–25 February 2018, with a VIP preview on 23 February.
1-54 Marrakech is the first edition of the fair on the African continent and follows successful editions in London and New York. Marrakech is home to one of the continent’s most dynamic arts scenes and 1-54 Marrakech aims to build on the city’s creative energy fostered by its artists, galleries and institutions, while strengthening the global network that 1-54 has cultivated over five years.
“We are thrilled to announce such a strong gallery list for our newest edition of 1-54 in Marrakech. The Marrakech edition is 1-54’s ‘homecoming’ in a sense, as the dream has always been to have a well-founded presence on the African continent, and so it is really exciting that both new galleries and friends will join us in Marrakech as we continue to expand and support our network“. – Touria El Glaoui, Founding Director
1-54 has selected 17 leading galleries specialising in contemporary African art from Europe and Africa. Three solo shows have been announced: Dominique Zinkpè (Galerie Vallois), Ouattara Watts ((S)ITOR/Sitor Senghor) and Sory Sanlé (Yossi Milo Gallery).
