Galleries announced for 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London

With biannual editions in London and New York, 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair is the leading international art fair dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. 1:54 London returns for its fourth consecutive edition at Somerset House this October, 6–9th.

1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair announced the galleries exhibiting in its fourth edition at Somerset House in London, 6–9 October.

In its most ambitious edition yet, 1:54 London 2016 will feature 40 carefully selected galleries from 18 countries; 17 galleries will be joining this edition for the first time.

The fair will spotlight works from over 110 African and African Diasporan artists, working in various different mediums and coming from a unique spread of geographical backgrounds comprising 30 countries: Algeria; Benin; Cameroon; Côte d’Ivoire; Democratic Republic of Congo; Ethiopia; France; Germany; Ghana; Italy; Japan; Kenya; Madagascar; Malawi; Mali; Morocco; Mozambique; Nigeria; Russia; Senegal; Sierra Leone; South Africa; Sudan; Switzerland; Togo; Tunisia; Uganda; United Kingdom; United States and Zimbabwe.

1:54 will again be accompanied by FORUM, the fair’s extensive talks and events programme, including lectures, film screenings and panel discussions with international curators, artists and art professionals. FORUM is curated by Koyo Kouoh, Artistic Director of RAW Material Company, Dakar.

Alongside the fair will be an expanded collateral programme of exhibitions in Somerset House. Advance tickets for 1:54 will be available online in September 2016.
