ROUTE DU JAZZ tells the musical history of Africa.
A starting point is Africa and several territories beyond the seas: The Americas, the Caribbean.
The result? The rhythm multiplies and is taking new forms where it is reborn . As product of a synthesis between African tradition and European creation , made possible on American soil , jazz carries the stigma of history.
Through portraits and interviews , the photographer Samuel Nja Kwa traces the journey of rhythm. Anecdotes, personal stories , a tribute to the protagonists of this epoch.
Opening Saturday 21 February, 5.30 pm, at the Medina Galerie Mediatheque, Bamako (Mali) with Samuel Nja Kwa in attendance.
