R.A.R.O. Bogotá Artistic Residency Program

The launch of the first edition of R.A.R.O. Bogotá Artistic Residency Program is announced. The itinerant and interdependent nature of the residency means that residents can work on projects that delve into one or several techniques and themes. Residents share with multiple agents of the art ecosystem in Bogotá and receive, in turn, continuous feedback in their creative process.

At the end of the experience, artists will have the opportunity to present their work in different formats, such as group exhibitions, meetings with curators, open studios or workshops, among others. For this first edition, the closing exhibition of the program will be in Espacio Gris of Espacio Odeón.

The R.A.R.O. team for this edition, is comprised of Lina Ángel (General Management), Cristina Porto (Production) and Andrés Matías Pinilla (Artistic Coordination), who have woven a wide network of artists, workshops and cultural spaces in the city of Bogotá.

Important dates and deadlines:

Open Call: April 16th to May 16th, 2024, 23:59 (GMT-5)
Program starts on: July 15th, 2024, in-person in Bogotá

About R.A.R.O.
R.A.R.O. (Residencias Artísticas Raramente Organizadas) is an international artistic residency program focused on promoting exchange and collaboration among artists from various disciplines and multiple agents in the arts scene. It is a self-managed and decentralized program that relies on a network of workshops willing to host other artists in their workspaces and provide support or feedback on their work.

The dynamic of R.A.R.O. provides artists with the opportunity to work with colleagues, curators, managers, and researchers during a specific period, creating spaces for dialogue and collaboration. In addition to the work processes in the network spaces, R.A.R.O. organizes complementary activities such as studio visits, visits to public or private collections, discussions, and workshops, aiming to enhance the experiences of each resident.

Since its inception in 2014 in Buenos Aires, R.A.R.O. has welcomed over 120 artists from dierent countries. Additionally, it has developed grants in collaboration with various institutions. Its main objective is to strengthen artistic production and exchange between multiple disciplines through itinerant residencies.
