African Amicitiae , Amsterdam, Netherlands
13 Nov 2017 - 03 Feb 2018
African Amicitiae looks back on 25 years of residencies for artists from Africa and the diaspora at the Thami Mnyele Foundation in Amsterdam. The Group Exhibition will show a selection of artworks from the collection of the foundation, which includes nearly 200 works donated by the artists. Some gave a sketch, others enormous sculptures. On show are around 30 art works from 13 November 2017 till 3 February 2018.
African Amicitiae is part of the exhibition series ‘My Collection’, which Harald Schole organises in Arti since 2014. He aims to make public the often quirky and particular collections of artists and art-loving members of Arti. Art collectors are people with a passion and art works are collected in various ways: with the sharp eye of the collector, purchased, exchanged or received as a gift. Pauline Burmann, chair of the Thami Mnyele Foundation, is an art-loving member, a good reason to show this special collection in Arti.
