Pace Gallery announces the appointment of Kimberly Drew as Associate Director. Having worked as Social Media Manager for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, reinvigorating and diversifying the institution’s digital presence, Drew brings over a decade of experience in the international art world to Pace.

At the Met, Drew was instrumental in expanding the museum’s reach and shaping content strategies. As part of Pace’s global sales team, Drew will work with and support the gallery’s artists by cultivating client relationships and other business opportunities; develop strategy, exhibitions, and public programming; and contribute to the production of other content presented to the gallery’s global audience.

Drew began her career as an intern at the Studio Museum in Harlem, which later inspired her to launch the popular Tumblr blog Black Contemporary Art in 2011. She has since held positions on the communications teams of the Studio Museum, the Met, and the gallery Lehmann Maupin. A leading voice in contemporary art, she is the author of the international bestseller This Is What I Know About Art and the anthology Black Futures, which she co-edited with Jenna Wortham. Drew’s writing has appeared in Vogue, Curbed, Teen Vogue, and Vanity Fair, and in January 2022 she published an essay titled “The Misguided Empathy of Dana Schutz’s Open Casket” with New York magazine. She is the host of Hulu’s Your Attention Please podcast and her personal web series Black Power Lunch Hour. Most recently, she worked as NFT Residency Curator with the platform Voice.

Drew joins Vice President Lauren Panzo’s existing team members Jessica Mostow and Kaelan Kleber, who are being promoted as Directors and have been with Pace for 10 and 15 years, respectively, and Erin Sigoloff, who is being promoted as Associate Director. Pace’s appointment of Drew underscores the gallery’s commitment to advancing the careers of its artists and producing original, innovative content around their projects.

Kimberly Drew says: “I am thrilled by the opportunity to join Pace’s team. Over the course of my career, I’ve always been driven by opportunities to work alongside artists and in support of bringing new audiences to the world of contemporary art. Pace is a space that is vast in its offerings and always adapting and innovating. I look forward to the many lessons I will learn during this next chapter.”

Marc Glimcher says: “Kimberly has an exceptional track record as a creative thinker, and we could not be more excited to welcome her to Pace, where we value original approaches across all aspects of the organization. A writer, activist, and curator, Kimberly has already left her mark on the art world through various contributions which have helped amplify the voices of Black artists and creators, including her work at the Met which helped diversify the museum’s social media platform. As Kimberly joins our dealer team, I’m looking forward to seeing the impact of her transformative perspectives.”
