As part of its efforts in making contemporary performance art popular in Africa, especially in Nigeria, AFiRIperFOMA invites to as symposium on performance art at Nkem Gallery, Lagos on December 19th 2013.

Contemporary performance art is a new phenomenon throughout Africa, especially in Nigeria. The symposium, Performance Art: Time Immemorial, will focus on the history of performance in the world with reference to Africa societies and its influence on the contemporary art.

Through this symposium, 1st edition of residency and future endeavours AFiRIperFOMA will build a network to engage leading International practioners with the vibrant African community.

AFiRIperFOMA is a non-profit organisation and collective of performance/live artists, and curators throughout Africa, a networking and discursive platform for the expansion of contemporary performance/live art in the African continent.
