Ingrid Schaffner, curator of the 57th Carnegie International, will travel with a team of local and international curators to the Caribbean, Europe, West Africa, Central and East Asia. The international’s reach was not nearly as large in 1896, when industrialist Andrew Carnegie created what has become the oldest showcase of contemporary art in North America.
On each trip, Ms. Schaffner will be accompanied by one of five curators: Magali Arriola from Mexico City, Doryun Chong from Hong Kong, Ruba Katrib and Carin Kuoni, both from New York City, and Bisi Silva from Lagos, Nigeria. Liz Park and Allison Miller, associate curator and curatorial assistant, respectively, at the Carnegie Museum of Art, will research and develop publications about the Carnegie International.
