Changamoto is an arts fund initiated through a partnership between Kenya Community Development Foundation and the GoDown Arts Centre through funding provided by The Ford Foundation.

Changamoto seeks to provide funding to liberate Kenyan artists from economic pressures, stimulating innovative, Kenyan art production in the process. The fund supports individuals, groups of artists and projects in the areas of theatre, dance, music and visual art located in Nairobi, Mombasa or Kisumu. There are two aspects that receive particular attention in funding decisions taken by the Changamoto Arts Fund: The artistic projects and event must appeal to new target groups, and the works must contribute towards the development of new, authentic, high-quality Kenyan art as well as a cultural identity. The aim is for the innovative approaches of Changamoto projects to contribute to a new dynamic within the Kenyan arts scene while enriching the cultural sector.
