The art historian and political scientist Dominique Malaquais has passed away.
Dominique Malaquais was Senior Researcher at CNRS (Institut des Mondes Africains, Paris, France) and co-director, with Kadiatou Diallo, of the experimental curatorial platform SPARCK. Malaquais worked often collectively to address intersections between political violence, economic inequity and the making of urban cultures in the late capitalist present. Her recent publications include a book on Africa-Asia exchanges as seen through the visual arts, literature, urbanism and spirituality (with Nicole Khouri) and a book on the archival turn in contemporary Africa-based and Diaspora arts (with Maëline Le Lay and Nadine Siegert).
We send our condolences to Dominique Malaquais’s family and friends.
