Kudzanai Chiurai (Zimbabwe, 1981) lives and works in South Africa. He graduated with a BA in Fine Art from the University of Pretoria.
Regarded as part of the ‘Born Free’ generation in Zimbabwe, in his early work Chiurai focused on the political, economic and social struggles in his homeland. Consequently he began to look at the issues of xenophobia and displacement in Southern Africa, and started to produce films and paintings that dealt with his psychological and physical experience of living in the inner city of Johannesburg.
