18 Mar 2015 - 06 May 2015
This 6 part lecture series, presented by leading art experts, highlights a selection of South African artists featured in exhibitions at Wits Art Museum this year. Artists include Jackson Hlungwani, Penny Siopis, Dr. Phutuma Seoka, Cedric Nunn, Johannes Maswanganyi and Peter Schütz.
Participants will gain exciting new insights into their work as well as the exhibitions and the issues they raise. In addition to this participants will also learn about how their work came to be part of the extensive WAM collection. Lectures take place in the museum, giving participants the opportunity to view the actual artworks discussed both before and after the talks. The lectures will be presented by Professor Anitra Nettleton, Dr Laura De Becker, Dr Christopher Richards, Walter Oltmann and selected guest speakers. The lecture series is a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in their fields, engage with people who share your interest in art and expand your knowledge of the visual arts of Africa.
