Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart, Germany
Deadline: 05 January 2020
Akademie Schloss Solitude will establish a new residency program that will be committed to a long- term artistic and cultural exchange between Namibia and Germany. The program will promote Namibian artists, to integrate them into new artistic networks and to make their work visible to a wider German and international audience. Between the years of 2020 and 2021, the program will organize six four-months residency fellowships per year for artists, writers/journalists, and practitioners from the digital field, both in Namibia and Stuttgart. The fellowship program will encompass events such as readings, exhibitions, discussions, and workshops as a form of output for audiences both in Namibia and Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
The residencies are organized in the framework of the project »Colonial Heritage – Shared Futures« which aims to open a dialogue for a collective reprocessing of history between Namibia and Germany and is curated by the Namibian historian Memory Biwa. The fellowships will be carried out in close collaboration with the Goethe-Institut as well as organizations from the independent art and literature scene in Namibia.
Artists from the field of visual arts (production and mediation), literature/journalism, and digital practice with a specific interest in the areas of restitution/reparation, cultures of remembrance, and digital colonialism are welcome to apply until January 5, 2020.
