ISELP is offering a scientific residency programme open to all emerging researchers.

Through this programme, ISELP wants to encourage research related to contemporary arts and cultural disciplines, studied collectively rather than individually, and to the relationship between art, culture and contemporary society, in order to promote the emergence of new viewpoints and communicate these to the various audiences. It could be research in art history or any other human sciences discipline.

The scientific residency programme offers a grant and pedagogical support in the context of a first individual and non-academic project. It promotes pure research, without a predetermined goal, taking an in-depth look at one or more aspects of contemporary artistic culture. Rigour and objectivity will be required to guide the exploration work conducted by the applicants.

This programme offers professional experience and is open to all human sciences researchers who have a defined field of research and a clear project related to modern contemporary artistic culture.

CALL

This call concerns the first residency, which will take place between September and December 2020. The residency will start in mid-September and last three months. The exact starting date will depend on the availability of the resident and ISELP staff.

Applications must be submitted in a two-part file:

1 – A note of intent containing the motivation, the general research concerns, the specific intentions for the residency 1 – and a description of the methodology used (maximum three pages);

2 – A curriculum vitae (maximum two pages).

PROCEDURES

The residents are invited to describe their project and explain how a residency will contribute to it. They will be selected by a panel of experts on the basis of the file. Each resident will receive a grant of €2,000.

They will receive pedagogical support from the responsible for the residency programme and will be given access to the Documentation Centre via the archivist. If it appears relevant, they will be able to present their research at public or semi-public ISELP events in consultation with the responsible for the residency programme and the programming team.

The project may be conducted in English or French. As the principal framework of the research is based on the French language, the successful applicant must be able to speak French. This programme is dedicated to independent, non-financed research, performed outside of any academic or institutional framework. The nature and timescale of the support programme will depend on the needs and wishes of the residents as well as the availability and capacity of the ISELP team.
