In the frame of docuementa fifteen and #weavingnetworks, C& hosts a panel with Jatiwangi Art Factory, The Black Archives, Kayfa Ta and HAMBRE on 8th July, 11am-2pm at ruruHaus Kassel to share practices, strategies, tools and publications. Moderated by Ann Mbuti.

We’re happy to work with documenta fifteen on the project “Weaving Networks: On paper, in places”! In collaboration with four collectives participating in the documenta lumbung and four writers from our C& community, we’ve created four very special print editions.

What happened: each C& writer spent time with one collective respectively in their local context to get a sense of their visions, practice, communities, and environment. The outcome consists of four distinct and unique texts reflecting on this remarkable experience.

1. Yina Jiménez Suriel from the Dominican Republic travelled to be with Más Arte Más Acciónin Bogotá, Colombia.

2. Gloria Kiconco from Uganda spent time with The Black Archives in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

3. Serine Mekoun from Belgium and Togo visited Sasa Art Projects in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

4. Russell Hlongwane from South Africa got to know the collective practice of Jatiwangi Art Factory in Jatiwangi, Indonesia.

The result: 4 individual editions designed and printed by the invited collectives. While each edition contains the four texts by our C& writers, each layout has its very own look, feel, and spirit.

And the idea of weaving new, meaningful networks in the frame of this #documentafifteen continues!

“Weaving Networks: On paper, in places” is starting to develop exciting new synergies and interlocks with documenta’s lumbung of Publishers as there are many thoughts to share – on questions around the challenges and the potential of publishing, forms of distribution and creating collectively. The collaboration will be reflected through features and articles on contemporaryand.com as well as through physical encounters in Kassel! The lumbung of Publishers is a network of 22 independent publishers from around the globe.

“Weaving Networks: On paper, in places” was developed by C& with the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa) and Pro Helvetia as cooperative partners. Pro Helvetia is also a funder of the lumbung of Publishers.
