Villa Medici, Rome, Italy
24 Jun 2024 - 25 Jun 2024
Hamedine Kane ends his residency at Villa Medici, where he has developed a space for the production and creation of new narratives dedicated to the Afro-descendant presence, with an international meeting in the spirit of the Congresses of Black Writers and Artists in Paris (1956) and Rome (1959).
In a spirit of filiation and continuity, Kane summons to Rome the descendants and heirs of those who organized the Paris and Rome Congresses of the last century. In this way, this workshop is transformed into a space for the enactment of a new narrative, through the creation of a space for discourse, readings, film and music.
Initiated by Hamedine Kane, the event is co-organized by the Villa Medici (Rome), Selebe Yoon (Dakar), Centre Pompidou (Paris) and Mémoire d’encrier (Montréal).
