Goethe-Institut , Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
02 Nov 2016 - 09 Dec 2016
The exhibition « Stories from the City » | ሌላም ተረት features the work of six emerging photographers from Addis Ababa.
The idea and concept of this second outcome of the portfolio reading meeting at the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa earlier this year was jointly developed by the photographers Eyerusalem Adugna, Nader Adem, Leikun Nahusenay, Fikirte Mengesha, Anteneh Girma, Samira Messner and the curator Katrin Peters-Klaphake.
Starting from the idea to look at people and places in urban contexts, the displayed works grapple with themes that are strongly rooted in the experiences and living conditions of urban citizens. Through their lens, the photographers present individual and commonly shared narratives about ways of living in a town of today. While the individual approaches and motivations of the participants vary quite significantly, they all share the intention of telling stories with photographic means.
The exhibition opening will take place in the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa on 1st November 2016 at 6pm. After the opening, the exhibition will be open from 2nd November until 9th December 2016.
