Gallery Wentrup presents the exhibition Zanele Muholi `s Selected FACES&PHASES and Beulahs. After the Documenta 13 and the Venice Biennale, parts of the series FACES & PHASES , as well as films and works of the series Beulah will be on display in the gallery Wentrup. The documentary works show portraits of African homosexuals, lesbians , trans and intersex people . In her work Muholi to visualizes the history of black and lesbian identity in South Africa after apartheid.
Zanele Muholi who describes herself as a “visual activist ,” is consistently engaged for the community of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and “Trans” ). Actions can be followed on the website launched by Muholi’s platform http://inkanyiso.org .
