Morrocan artist Yto Barrada was given free rein for this exhibition, which includes a series of photos and various installations on her new book project, Mia, la Mécanicienne (Mia the mechanic), co-published by Fotokino.

Yto Barrada grew up between Paris and Tangier. She studied history and political science at the Sorbonne University. It was while taking photos to illustrate her texts (on Palestine in particular) that she began to give priority to images rather than words. With The Strait Project – a series of videos, installations and photographs taken in Tangier from 1999 – she attracted critical acclaim. Her images transport us to a city where time has stopped. Everything is in suspension and people seek to flee.
