The internationally oriented and interdisciplinary Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin combines various art and design disciplines on one campus. One of the special features of the university is the interdisciplinary artistic and creative basic study program in the first year of study for students of all disciplines.

The Department of Theory and History works between art, science and design and pursues experimental and research-led teaching. The explicit practical relevance of the scientific courses makes interactions between artists and designers and the contexts surrounding them recognizable and shapeable.

They are looking for a personality who has performed outstandingly in the field of research into visual cultures in the national and international environment and can represent the teaching of visual cultures in its entire media, historical and methodological breadth. A transdisciplinary profile is desired that is able to map and make accessible the social and technological complexity of visual cultures in appropriate teaching formats. Methodological approaches or focal points, for example in postcolonial, queerfeminist theories or gender studies, are very welcome. Students should be enabled to relate historical, theoretical and practical conditions and processes of the production and reception of visual cultures and to reflect on them in a contemporary basis. Conceptually sound teaching is expected in conjunction with design practice and the proof of research projects as well as relevant publications in the field to be represented. Since the university has a large number of international students, international networking and communication skills are required. We are looking for applicants who want to actively participate in a discrimination-sensitive teaching and research situation at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin.
