POETIC VOICES AFRICA: “I SING A NEW FREEDOM”
THU, 22 MAY – SAT, 24 MAY 2014

The African continent boasts a wealth of multilingual and often politically charged “poetic voices.” The festival Poetic Voices Africa will introduce a selection of poetry-, performance-, and spoken word artists, whose words and speech intervene in the social realities of their countries, while at the same time engaging in international exchange. Seeking also to initiate dialogue with German-speaking authors, the festival presents a series of roundtable discussions, in which participants discuss their working conditions, as well as publishing avenues and networks.

All festival events will take place in German and English or French.

Venue: VHS-Forum at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum, Cäcilienstraße 29-33, 50667 Cologne
