What is a portfolio review?

The portfolio review is a platform to present your work of photography to a group of well-known photographers, curators and photo journalists. In one-to-one sessions with the experts you will have the chance to discuss your work and get constructive feedback on artistic and presentational issues.

The program: You will have individual review sessions with all of the five experts. Each session will be 10-15 minutes long. There will also be activities for the whole group of participants: five input sessions on different topics by the experts, and a public panel discussion. On the last day we will discuss future activities of the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa in the area of photography.

Date and Venue: 1-3 June 2016, Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa

Who can apply?: Everybody is invited to apply if you

•have a cohesive body of work – a portfolio that will have a maximum of 30 carefully selected images that will show the best work by you

•are able to articulate your concept and vision if necessary

•can present your work in a professional manner – printed, or presented on a laptop/tablet as a presentation. The images can also be given to the reviewer on a flash disc, as long as they are clearly marked (separate folder/presentation format)

•have the time and are willing to participate in the whole three days of the workshop

Some of the participants will have the chance to exhibit an example of their work in the hall of the Goethe-Institut Addis Ababa in July/August.

Application deadline:
We would need your application latest by Friday, 20 May. Places are limited, so participants will be selected on a first come, first served basis.
