The Bag Factory Artists’ Studios presents NO RULES APPLY 2.0.
This is an opportunity for artists and audience members to take over the Bag Factory gallery. NO RULES APPLY 2.0 questions who is “the artist” and why only some works are ever seen by the public by focusing on the production of work.
NO RULES APPLY 2.0 is a platform for audiences and artists to collaborate in a broader sense and explore their own creative freedom within a gallery space. Though the Bag Factory is not a commercial gallery we are making our gallery space available for anyone who is keen to take over and create something new on the walls.
How does it work?
• There are no rules to how or what can be done – just don’t leave walls bare.
• Artists/creatives and general public are invited to scribble/paint/spray/splash our gallery walls.
• There is a R45 paricipation fee which includes materials for your use.
Food and drinks will be available for sale on the day and are outside of the ticket price.

In addition to being able to make your own work you could see all the Art Work that covers Newtown by joining in the Newtown Art Tour:
The Newtown Precinct is home to a number of fantastic art studios and schools. Why not join Past Experiences on a walking tour of a number of these spaces, including the Artist Proof Studio, Assemblage and The Market Photo Workshop. The tour will also look at the history of Newtown, its regeneration and its vibrant public art and graffiti. There is no better way to spend an afternoon in the city.
