Frieze has announced today the participating galleries for Frieze Masters. Following acclaim for the first two editions of the fair, this year sees not only a particularly strong representation of galleries from the UK and US but also an ambitious global reach. Dedicated to art from ancient to modern, Frieze Masters will take place 15–19 October 2014 on Gloucester Green, Regent’s Park, London, and is sponsored by Deutsche Bank.

Described by the Financial Times as ‘Unrivalled among fairs worldwide for its quality, range, seductive displays and scholarly interest’, Frieze Masters is a carefully selected presentation of over 120 of the world’s leading galleries. Taking place at the same time as Frieze London, the two fairs ensure that London is the destination for the broadest international art audience and benefits from a crossover between audiences of contemporary and historical art.

Participating Galleries

The participating galleries will exhibit art ranging from the ancient era to old masters through to art of the twentieth century. Representing 19 countries, this year sees new galleries that include: Marian Goodman Gallery (New York), Paula Cooper Gallery (New York), Daxer & Marschall (Mu- nich), Kunstkammer Georg Laue (Munich), Helly Nahmad Gallery (London), Pace Gallery (London), The Weiss Gallery (London), Ariadne Galleries (London), Craig F. Starr Gallery (New York); Berwald Oriental Art (New York).

Spotlight is a section of the fair dedicated to solo artist presentations. It offers visitors the chance to discover artists working throughout the 20th century, from 14 territories: Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Romania, South Africa, Spain, UAE, UK and USA. The selection of the galleries in Spotlight is advised by curator Adriano Pedrosa.

This year introduces new opening times for both Frieze Masters and Frieze London, with Frieze Masters opening to the public on Wednesday 15 October, 2014.

Frieze Masters is designed by architect Annabelle Selldorf whose contempo- rary, elegant environment provides a sophisticated context for art of all ages.

Frieze Masters will include a programme of talks in which leading contemporary artists will draw out relationships between their practice and histori- cal art. Talks at Frieze Masters are programmed by Jasper Sharp.

This year introduces Gucci as Associate Sponsor and supporter of the Frieze Masters Talks programme, bringing together one of the world’s leading luxury fashion houses with Frieze Masters, in the first partnership of its kind for the fair. They join long-term partners of the fair Deutsche Bank, BMW, Champagne Pommery and The Art Fund alongside media partner the Financial Times.
