From its inception, the annual residency of the Encounters of Young International Photography has taken place in Niort (France), located on the edge of the Poitevin Marshes, some 60 kilometres from the Atlantic coast. Every year, eight young international creators are selected to participate on the basis of submitted work, always accompanied throughout their stay by a major name in photography, who this year is Isabel Muñoz.

They are provided with technical support from the team of the Centre of Contemporary Photographic Art, Villa Pérochon (and the association Pour l’Instant). A technical centre, fully equipped with professional tools, including a black-andwhite darkroom and a digital studio, is reserved for their use. With this backing, the young artists are invited to create, stimulated by the encounters and exchanges of experiences with all the participants from a wide variety of backgrounds. A catalogue of the exhibition created in Niort will be published. This amounts to a truly unique artistic experience.

The application must include:

• A signed copy of the attached application form.
• A CV and a text presenting the artistic approach.
• A selection of representative recent works.
• And finally, without obligation, the presentation of an intended or proposed project for this residency
• Imperatively, for applications from within France: Works accompanying applications must be presented in the form of paper-based-prints (bromide or digital), with the exception of multimedia works.
• For applications coming from outside France: Other than the above-mentioned form, it is also possible to present work on:
  • CD or DVD (low resolution files, Mac / PC compatible, and without any downloading being required). In this case, the number of images is limited to 25 per series and 2 series maximum.
  • By e-mail with the same conditions applicable as for works submitted on CD or DVD, and to be sent to : accueil@cacpvillaperochon.com

Application contents can only be returned if they are accompanied by suitable return packaging, addressed and stamped to the rate applying within France, or else sent with an international reply coupon of the appropriate value.
