The endowment fund ellipse art projects lauches the new edition of the ellipse prize dedicated to African artists living in Ghana and to Ghanaian artists living in the African continent. Call for applications: From January 6 to March 3, 2025
Initiated in 2021, the ellipse prize is an itinerant visual art competition highlighting emerging artists from a different territory each year. In 2025, the endowment fund continues its journey along the West African coast, dedicating the fifth edition of the prize to Ghana’s emerging art scene.
Destinated to foster intercultural exchanges and artists’ mobility, the ellipse prize aims to serve as a visibility platform for the finalists and the winner. For the second year running, the finalists benefit from a group exhibition organized in the selected region in collaboration with local organizations, followed by the selection of a winner.
The latter benefits from a production grant as well as a solo exhibition in France during the AKAA – Also Known As Africa fair, which will take place from October 24 to 26, 2025, in Paris. Additionally, the winner benefits from a 360-degree communication campaign and professional support.
The ellipse prize
Related to a theme specific to each edition (Butterfly Effect for this 2025 edition), the ellipse prize is an itinerant visual art competition dedicated to the artistic creation from a different country each year. This contest aims to disseminate the messages conveyed by artists from all horizons, and to encourage intercultural exchanges, making creativity a means of strengthening social bond. Otherwise, the ellipse prize wishes to encourage emerging artists’ mobility and initiate professional opportunities beyond borders.
Ghana
On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, the ellipse prize continues its journey along the West African coast, dedicating this edition for the first time to an English-speaking country: Ghana.
