The National Arts Council (NAC) in South Africa is inviting individuals and registered arts organisations/companies active in the disciplines of Craft, Dance, Literature, Multi-discipline, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts to apply for three year Arts Organisation Support Funding, and Art Projects and International Bursaries for arts organisations and individuals.

Call for three year arts organisation support funding

The National Arts Council (NAC) is inviting registered arts organisations/companies active in the disciplines of Craft, Dance, Literature, Multi-discipline, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts to apply for three year Arts Organisation Support Funding.

Applications for projects of national significance that are involved in the creation of new works, arts development, arts promotion, facilitate access to the arts and markets are invited to apply. Furthermore, applications that have a strong community base and have been conceived in collaboration with others working in similar fields will be preferable. The objective of this funding is to support the mandate of the NAC by focusing on the following strategic priorities:

▪Support transformation and redress in the arts.

▪Contribute to job creation in the arts.

▪Contribute to the sustainability of arts organisations.

▪Improve the geographic spread of grant funding allocations.

▪Support growth and development in the arts.

▪Support artistic innovation and work relevant to the South African context.

Consideration will be given to organisations that have the capacity and proven track record to implement arts programmes within the required timelines. In addition organisations should demonstrate the capacity to utilise the funding with integrity and compliance with the principles and practices of sound governance.

Applicants are required to complete the relevant application form, submit a three year business plan and comply with the funding criteria and guidelines which are obtainable from the NAC offices, website (below) and via email on request. Please note that late and incomplete applications will not be considered and no exceptions will be made. The NAC reserves the right not to fund. If you do not hear from the NAC by 31 May 2016 consider your application unsuccessful.

Call for applications for funding 2015: Arts Projects and International Bursaries

The National Arts Council hereby invites individuals and registered arts organisations in the disciplines of theatre, dance, music, visual arts, craft, literature and multi-discipline to submit their applications for project funding.

Applications are invited for projects of national significance that are involved in the creation of new works, arts development, arts promotion, job creation and that facilitate access to the arts and markets. Furthermore, arts applications that promote environmental sustainability, have a strong community base and have been conceived in collaboration with others working in similar fields will be preferable.

Post-graduate students wishing to pursue arts studies abroad in the fields of Craft, Dance, Literature, Multi-discipline, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts are also invited to apply. Students willing to access NAC funding should be prepared to return to and work in South Africa to support the development of the arts in the country.

Conditions for acceptance of applications:

▪All relevant sections of the application form must be filled in completely;

▪All requested documentation must be submitted with the application form;

▪Applications must be submitted on or before 11 December 2015.

This invitation is also open to arts organisations and individuals that support the involvement of women, youth and people living with disabilities.

Please note that late and incomplete applications will not be considered at all and no exceptions will be made. Application forms and funding guidelines are available from the National Arts Council office or can be downloaded below.
