“I dream a dream that dreams back at me” – Toni Morrison
Fantasy is generative. In this collection of works, Brittany Tucker is questioning the relationship between acts of survival and acts of the imagination. What is sacrificed in order to “grow up”? What if what was perceived as expendable (play, fantasy, tantrums etc.) was not in fact expendable at all? And how does one return to the source to retrieve what was lost but not forgotten?
Brittany Tucker is a multi-disciplinary artist and painter from Brooklyn, New York. Her work currently focuses on exploring the Black Female experience through the use of self-portraiture and cartoon figures. She graduated from Bard College with a B.A. in Studio Arts, and now lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
