In the framework of the exhibition Black Chronicles II Autograph ABP presents a range of exciting events in November at Rivington Place, London.

 

Gallery talk: Val Wilmer in Conversation with Margaret Busby

Autograph ABP will host a gallery talk with Margaret Busby and Val Wilmer, whose private collection of cabinet cards and cartes-de-visite depicting black presences in Victorian and Edwardian Britain is featured in Black Chronicles II.

 

Live performance at Rivington Place: The Missing Chapter Recitals

An evening performance of live music, spoken word and photography. Interweaving their personal responses to Black Chronicles II will be pianist Isata Kanneh Mason and musician Akala.

You are invited to bring along examples of photographs from your family album that relate to Britain’s multicultural history. Share your stories and have your photographs digitised.

 

Family event: Make Your Own Carte-de-visite workshop

Carte-de-visite are small photographs mounted onto card, which were popular in the latter part of the 19th Century. Learn about their history and create your own.

 

Evening Symposium: The Missing Chapter IV: Cultural Identity And The Photographic Archive

Evening symposium followed by a drinks reception.

Autograph ABP presents the 4th in a series of conversations around politics of the archive with a keynote by Paul Gilroy entitled ‘The Comforts of The Archive’, followed by a round-table discussion with presentations/conversations with guest speakers including Michael McMillan and Karen Alexander.

Introduced and co-chaired by Renée Mussai and Mark Sealy.
