Artist Residency

Frans Masereel Centrum, Kasterlee, Belgium
Deadline: 12 May 2022

Artist Residency

>The Artist Residency program welcomes contemporary artists to realize an individual, multiform, print-related project that matches their artistic practice. The focus of the Artist Residency program lies on development and creation in one or more of our workshops.

>
>Usually 9 artists work and stay at the same time at the site of the Frans Masereel Centrum, so that there is always enough personal space for concentration and creation, alternated with informal moments of consultation, meeting and feedback among peers from all over the world. Our location in a wooded area is for many an extra asset.
>
>No prior knowledge of printmaking techniques is required and the studio staff will be available for technical assistance. However, residents are expected to be able to work autonomously and realize their project independently. At the Frans Masereel Centrum, you will have access to our various printmaking facilities, including typography with wooden or lead typesetting, intaglio, screenprinting, riso and lasercut. Some artists prefer to develop a more process-oriented research project. In that case, prior knowledge of printmaking techniques is required.
>
