Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic
October 7, 2016 – January 8, 2017 at Phoenix Art Museum

The Phoenix Art Museum presents Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic, a retrospective of the artist’s prolific career featuring nearly 60 paintings and sculptures. Kehinde Wiley’s work raises questions about race, gender, and the politics of representation by portraying contemporary African American men and women using the conventions of traditional European portraiture.

Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic is organized by the Brooklyn Museum and Eugenie Tsai, the John and Barbara Vogelstein Curator of Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum.

Kehinde Wiley: Lamentation
October 20, 2016 – January 15, 2017 at Petit Palais, Paris

Kehinde Wiley: Lamentation is the first museum exhibition of the artist in France and features a collection of new monumental works, stained glass windows and paintings presented at the center of the permanent collections within the museum.

Kehinde Wiley: Lamentation is organized by the Petit Palais and Christophe Leribault.
