A.I.R. TAKT residency programme in Berlin

Scattered throughout Berlin in Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg, Takt has 20 live-in work studios. Artists can stay up to 3 months.

Artists across all disciplines are accepted from the emerging to the established. Including: visual arts, painting, sculpture, ceramics, performing arts, textile art, literature, new media, animation, printmaking, curatorial studies, arts administration, film making, architecture, design, dancers, musicians, playwrights and more. Takt is an English speaking environment.

A Residency Program / Studio Visits / Gallery Visits / Artist Talks / Group Critiques / Mentor Visits / Life Drawing / Writer’s Room / German Lessons / City Tours / Openings / Performances / Quarterly Residency Group Exhibitions: March, June, September, December.

OPEN CALL FOR: THREE MONTH STAY (SHORTER PERIODS ALSO POSSIBLE)

Rolling applications are open for three months residencies commencing annually in January, April, July and October. Shorter periods of one or two month(s) are also available but we prefer to work with you for a longer period if possible.

The offer:

TAKT residency programme in the heart of Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg (600€ per residency month)

• Weekly group art critique with our visiting artist.

• Weekly Artist Talk at Takt Academy at Tapir Gallery.

• Weekly studio visits with Berlin based artists (German and International).

• Group visits to some of the most exciting Galleries and exhibition openings that Berlin has to offer.

• Weekly Berlin based cultural events.

• A group show, every 3 months / 4 times a year.

• Weekly German for beginners classes.

• weekly life drawing sessions.

As Berlin has a vivid and packed art life, the weekly program is announced on Fridays for the following week so Takt can be as responsive to what’s going on as possible. All talks and Workshops are held at the Takt Academy (please contact Takt if you would like to offer a talk or workshop!).

You can also stay elsewhere in Berlin and only join in the Takt programme. To work and stay at the Takt studios please find fees attached under « Welcome to Takt »

The Takt Mentorship programme
One-on-one mentoring availble with expert artists from many diciplines. The mentor programme offers a wonderful oppoertunity for artists looking to push their practice further, or take a new direction.
The format of the mentorship will vary according to the artist’s needs and should be arranged directly between the artist and the mentor.

Takt Studio Apartments live/work spaces (prices start at 450€ per month)

• 5x fully furnished residency apartments as live/work spaces within a shared house, kitchen and bathroom arrangement for the Takt artist residencies. 3x locations in Friedrichshain and 2x locations in Prenzlauer Berg.

• In Prenzlauer Berg, 1x of the locations is a separate apartment, fully furnished and designed for artists staying with family/children or for artists looking for a space of their own, doing desk work only.

• In Friedrichshain, 3x friendly residency apartments are located on the same residential street. Total of 10x live/work studios available for artists and partners.

• In Prenzlauer Berg, the 2x residency apartments for writers and Digital Media artists are located next to each other. Total of 5x live/work studios available for artists and partners (and as mentioned above, at the smaller one artists can also stay with their children here!)

• Kunstraum Tapir is our gallery is also part of the TAKT.

Also offered:

• A permanent personalized link on the TAKT website

• Invitations to participate in the closed Takt Facebook Group which gives you networking possibilities to current artists and alumni artists

• Insider Berlin information about how to make the most of the city and your neighbourhood

• Use of a German mobile phone with a German number

• We can order taxis or find solutions for even more difficult tasks…! (Yeah!)

• We provide linens and towels (20€/per residency month), also desks or easels

• Bikes and pram/stroller and one bike cabin for kids available for rent for the whole residency time (50€/per residency month)

• Monthly cleaning of all common spaces at Takt. During the month each artist is responsible and takes part a rotating cleaning schedule
