The Gallery of African Art opened in 2013 in Cork Street in London (and is now in Albemarle Street). The founder and director of the gallery is the London-based art collector Bendu Cooper.
Next to Jack Bell Gallery and Tiwani Contemporary, GAFRA is one of the three main galleries in London specialising in African art. While Tiwani for instance focuses mainly on Nigerian art, the Gallery of African Art provides a space for artists from across the continent – on two floors in the heart of London’s art scene.
