The Fak’ugesi Digital Africa Conference is calling for papers. The conference will be held from 4 -7 December in extension of Fak’ugesi Festival and proposes to reflect on the activities of the festival as well as present local and international research on the cross over of art, culture and technology in Africa and the world.

Please send your abstract submissions to Tegan.bristow@wits.ac.za clearly indicating the session theme to which you are applying. If your paper or presentation is accepted for the conference you will be informed and invited to submit a full paper for presentation and publication.

The Deadline for the Final Paper Submissions is 3 November 2014

Most importantly papers will be published as peer reviewed in a special edition of  the Technoetic Arts Journal .  A highly rated Journal run by media art pioneer Roy Ascott.

Location: Joburg Centre for Software Engineering’s new Tshimologong Precinct in Braamfontein and the JoziHub in Milpark, as well as Wits University’s East and West Campus and in Braamfontein.

The Fak’ugesi: Digital Africa Festival is an umbrella event hosted by Wits University and the JoziHub in Johannesburg.  The Festival is aimed at coordinating and curating a number of stand-alone conferences, exhibitions, workshops, short-courses and other activities in the inner city of Johannesburg that will promote the fusion of creative and technical development in Africa by “switching on the power” of digital culture.
