Call for Artists: Art@Tell Edition 3/2015

The University of St.Gallen in Switzerland owns an impressive collection of art which covers a span of more than 50 years and which has been integrated into the architecture of the University. Notable artists such as Alberto Giacometti, Gerhard Richter, Georges Bracque, Hans Arp, Alexander Calder, Antoni Tàpies, Joan Miró, Enzo Cucchi, Mimmo Paladino, and Yan Pei-Ming are all part of the collection.

In addition to this collection, Art@Tell was launched in 2013 as a separate project. It aims to offer a platform to visual artists who are currently not represented by art dealers or gallerists.

Twice a year, independent artists have the opportunity to submit projects for a recently acquired building of the University at Tellstrasse 2 in St.Gallen. A curator will choose five projects from the applications received that will then be exhibited for six months in the school building. Applications can be made for one of the five space options specifically (please see separate documents on our website for options available) or without any particular space in mind. The final decision on the space allotted to the selected projects is made by the curator.

The University will assume the full costs for transport of the artwork, as well as for the artist’s travel to Switzerland for the installation and opening of the exhibition.

After two successful exhibitions curated by Ms Thamar Ette (edition 1/2013) and Ms Deborah Keller (edition 2/2014), the third edition of Art@Tell will be opened at the beginning of March 2015.

Due to the high number of applications expected, it will not be possible to answer all emails immediately. By the end of December 2014, the five artists whose projects were selected from the 20 final candidates will be informed and the planning for the realization of the projects and shipping of the artworks can get started.
All candidates that were not chosen for the exhibition will receive a message by the end of January 2015.
Please note: due to the high number of applicants it will not be possible to give specific explanations on the decisions taken.
