For the first time, ART X Lagos will be anchored by an online exhibition of 200 artworks from leading galleries across Africa and the Diaspora. The artworks will be displayed on the soon to be relaunched website, ARTXLAGOS.COM, which has been designed to recreate the breadth and diversity of the fair online for a global audience. Details for the rest of our program will also be accessible on the new website.
ART X Talks
This year our talks program returns with a series of poignant conversations featuring leading creatives who harness their respective forms of creative expression to comment on social challenges and invite us to imagine possibilities, as well as discussions with collectors, galleriests and more. Panelists include Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, Opal Tometi, Lola Ogunnaike, Freda Isingoma, Lemi Ghariokwu, Yagazie Emezi, Kelechi Amadi Obi and many others.
ART X Review – The Wrap Up
Njideka Akunyili Crosby will speak to the growth, place and potential of the artist in today’s world, sharing insights to help emerging artists further their professional practice as we wrap up the first year of the ART X Review program.
ART X Live! Presents “Like Someone’s Watching”
ART X Live! will present ‘Like Someone’s Watching’ – a performance film starring Nigeria’s fastest rising music and art talent Oxlade, Tomi Owo, King Jesse Uranta and DJ Camron, speaking to their aspirations for liberation and self-determination in this present moment.
“40 Minutes With…”
Join us as we recreate the insightful conversations that would usually be had with gallerists at their ART X Lagos booths. Our participating galleries will give insights to their featured artists and works being exhibited online at the fair, in these conversations.
New Nigeria Studios: A Special Exhibition
We will also present New Nigeria Studios, a digital exhibition that was birthed in response to the recent protests in Nigeria. The project seeks to amplify the voices of the artists who captured the powerful movement as it unfolded across the country, and will feature some of the artists that were recipients of our support initiative for 100 photographers who worked at the frontlines.
Graveyard of Ideas: An Interactive Intervention
In light of the tumultuous year 2020 has been, Graveyard of Ideas will stage an intervention at ART X Lagos, to expand on our definition of loss, and explore how to engage with ideas that have not yet come to pass. The experience will explore not only the shadow side of failure but also the lighter side of errors. What do they reveal about ease versus effort? Apart from where failure turns us away, where else does it take us?
Registration for all programs will open shortly
