Frans Masereel Centrum and Z33, Hasselt, Belgium
26 Nov 2013 - 16 Dec 2013
Frans Masereel Centrum and Z33 announce an open call for curatorial proposals for an exhibition on graphic print media in Z33 from 23.11.2014 to 01.03.2015.
After the exhibition All the Knives (Any printed story on request), curated by Åbäke, Frans Masereel Centrum and Z33 are launching for the second time an international open call for curatorial proposals for an exhibition on graphic print media. The purpose of this concept is to broaden the network of both international and national curators, and to stimulate curatorial strategies and concepts in the field of graphic print media. The objective is for the curator to examine and question graphic print media from an art-historical and social background toward modern applications and social developments. Specific characteristics of graphic art applications, in terms of technicality and content, are examined in view of defining a conceptual basis for the project. The survey into the transdisciplinary nature of graphic art techniques and into new forms of presentation and implementation offers added value as well.
Testing the boundaries of the graphic print medium and the research-based, critical and society-driven approach of the project are in line with the activities of Z33, at whose premises the exhibition will be held from 23.11.2014 to 01.03.2015.
The project fits in with the biannual ‘curator projects’ organised by Frans Masereel Centrum since 2007. These projects were initially developed to make the dynamics of print art and of the centre more widely known among the general public. Frans Masereel Centrum offers artist in residency (AIR) programmes to graphic and non-graphic artists, i.e. artists who wish to complete a graphic art project within a certain timeframe. Within this curator project, a residency at Frans Masereel Centrum will take place from 22.09.2014 to 03.10.2014.
Postmark Deadline: December 16, 2013
