Goethe-Institut Sudan, Khartoum, Sudan
02 Nov 2013 - 05 Nov 2013
In Khartoum, objects are dancing: lamps, tables and teabags are moving through the room on strings. “Pulling Strings” is a performance, play and installation, which choreographer Eva Meyer-Keller and Sheena McGrandles are developing in collaboration with Sudanese performers, choreographers and theatre makers in the course of a workshop in Khartoum. The outcome of the workshop, “Pulling Strings Sudan”, will debut during the German-Sudanese Theatre Days as a work in progress.
In 2013, Goethe-Institut Sudan will present the German-Sudanese Independent Theatre Days for the first time, as a platform of the young, independent scene. Apart from the workshop outcome, Eva Meyer-Keller will present the performance “Death is Certain”. Small productions from the independent scenes of Port Sudan, Nyala and Alobeid are offered a platform in the capital on the roof of the Goethe-Institut. The independent theatre scene, independent groups and productions from Germany and various parts of Sudan all come to this unprecedented platform to celebrate independent theatre, exchange ideas and amaze their audience in Khartoum. The project will be documented by Andrea Keiz.
