Open Space, Istanbul, Turkey
Deadline: 01 March 2020

Open Space has opened applications for its first Open Space Curatorial Residency with an esteemed International Jury of art world figures to sit on the selection panel. Open Space’s two-month residency in Istanbul (1 August – 2 October) )gives young London-based curators the opportunity to engage with the Huma Kabakci Collection, whilst facilitating encounters with a network of Istanbul-based institutions and practitioners in the arts. One curator is selected by an international jury following the open call in January. The curator in residence is invited to develop a new site-responsive project that might take the form of an exhibition, publication, or discursive event to be presented in London in November 2020.

Curators are encouraged in their application to draw ideas from Open Space’s 2020 Programme theme Manufacturing Memory, which questions the dichotomy between memory, nostalgia and technology through an interdisciplinary arts programme. The international jury includes: Çelenk Bafra (Independent Curator and director of SAHA), Gina Buenfeld (Curator Camden Arts Centre), Kirsty Ogg (Director of Bloomberg New Contemporaries), Zoé Whitley (Senior Curator Hayward Gallery) and Huma Kabakci (Founding Director Open Space).

Open Call closes: 1 March 2020, midnight
