This opportunity is open to early-career contemporary visual artists based in the Caribbean, including artists living in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sint Maarten, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the United States Virgin Islands.
Applicants should have a moderate level of spoken English and be comfortable discussing their work in English.
The selected artist will take part in an 11-week fully funded residency at Gasworks in London. Support includes accommodation, return flights, visa costs, a weekly stipend, materials budget, studio space, networking opportunities, studio visits, and curatorial support.
Applications must be submitted online through the form at the end of this opportunity’s page on Gasworks’ website (here) and include the following in one PDF file (maximum 15MB):
- Cover sheet with contact details and relevant website/social media links.
- A 250-word statement about your artistic practice and interests.
- A 250-word statement outlining your proposed research or project plans for the residency.
- Up to 15 images or video/audio clips of recent work, with captions and descriptions where necessary.
- A CV/Resume (maximum 3 pages).
- Any additional supporting materials, such as articles, exhibition documentation, or publications.
Applicants may submit audio or video responses instead of written statements for points 2 and 3.
