Resonance is an exhibition and public program conceived by artist and professor María Magdalena Campos-Pons and Grammy Award-winning musician Kamaal Malak. Curated by Grace Aneiza Ali and Selene Wendt, the project brings together more than 40 artists alongside scholars, writers and performers, including Carrie Mae Weems, Aïda Muluneh, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, Georges Adéagbo, Naiza Khan, Deborah Willis and Olu Oguibe.
Imagined as an instrument, the Venetian Palazzetto is transformed into a living forum where exhibitions, conversations, performances and sonic sessions unfold throughout the season. The exhibition features works by artists from across Africa, the Americas, Europe and the Caribbean, exploring questions of memory, identity, place, history and cultural exchange.
Alongside the exhibition, a public program convenes artists, curators and scholars in dialogue. Check the program here.
Developed through Vanderbilt University’s Engine for Art, Democracy & Justice, a trans-institutional research initiative founded by María Magdalena Campos-Pons, Resonance creates a space for collective reflection, artistic exchange and forms of listening during the 2026 Venice Biennale.
