Despite the cancellation of Frieze London and Frieze Masters due to Covid-19, the eight edition of 1-54 Contemporary Art Fair will take place in a more intimate scale from 8-10 October 2020.
The eighth edition of 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London will take place at Somerset House 8 – 10 October 2020. As a smaller and more intimate version, with a myriad of great art and discussions, the scaled-down fair will see 25 international galleries representing a selection of the best contemporary artists from Africa and its diaspora.
Frieze London and Frieze Masters that normally coinciding with 1-54 are cancelled.
The fair will once again be accompanied by 1-54 Forum, its extensive program of talks, curated by Julia Grosse and Yvette Mutumba of C&.
1-54 also announced a innovative online platform powered by Christie’s, that enhances the program of 1-54 by providing a virtual experience where art lovers from all over the world can see and buy works by some of the best artists from Africa and its diaspora.
