Sacred Sister Party Bus Project

Woman-Identified Artists of All Mediums are invited to apply to participate in the “Sacred Sister Party Bus” ! This creative action will explore women’s stories & experiences with various modes of transportation (walking, cars, matatu, train, etc), as well as examining spirituality, nature and creativity as modes of non-material transportation.

Participants will be asked to engage in dialogue with each other about these themes while aboard a privately rented matatu to Lake Naivasha. The experience will be recorded via photo and film. This is not a paid opportunity. Participants will be provided with lunch and same-day, roundtrip transportation to Naivasha.

Four artists will be selected for this opportunity on the basis of variety and the desire to provide a multiplicity of perspectives on the themes.

Participants will be asked to explore themes of transportation, spirituality & creativitydialogue with other participants travel in a group to Lake Naivasha appear on camera maintain social distance. The project will take place SEPTEMBER 26TH 2020 — ONE PICK-UP & DROP-OFF from a central location in NAIROBI, Kenya.

Safety : The matau will be privately rented and sparsely populated in order to maintain social distance. Appropriate hygiene and sanitation measures will be implemented. Curfew will be observed.

This project is being produced by Performance Artist and Cultural Organizer, Kelly Greenlight, in association with the Afro Urban Society for the Bakanal de Afrique Virtual Festival.
