Last Night I had The Strangest Dream

The Twilsharp Gallery presents Last Night I had The Strangest Dream. This is the gallery's first collaboration with an invited curator, arts and culture writer, Layla Leiman.
The exhibition features work by Chonat Getz, Fiona Pole, Samson Mnisi, Diana Hyslop, Wilhelm Saayman, Mongezi Ncaphayi, Bevan de Wet, Sara Verity, Niall Bingham, Ronel de Jager, Heidi Fourie, Isaac Zavale, Matthew Hazell, and Rebecca Haysom. Layman has chosen artists whose work plays with narratives that frustrate coherence, or whose work explores liminal spaces, describing the show as “a somnambulant exploration of dreamscapes and the margins of interpretation”.
About the Twilsharp Studios
The Twilsharp Gallery forms part of Twilsharp Studios, artists' studios co-founded this year by designer and craftsman Garfield Taylor, and artist Rebecca Haysom. It is situated on a unique renovated property dating back to the 1890's, in the historic and ever-changing suburb of Bertrams.
The Twilsharp Gallery is an artist-led space that supports emerging visual arts practitioners. With relatively few small independent art spaces in Johannesburg the creative team behind the project say the gallery's mission is to “provide a neccesary alternative space that gives both artists and emerging curators, the opportunity to conceive independent shows, take risks, and gain exposure.”
Alongside the studios and gallery, Twilsharp has also established an international residency with on-site accomodation in renovated vintage caravans. The first resident artist, Danish London-based, Amalie Jakobsen, arrives in mid-August, and will be exhibiting a site-specific installation in mid-September.
