sharing/learning: Methods of the Collective in Art, Research and Activism

sharing/learning: Methods of the Collective in Art, Research and Activism
18 June 2019
How and what do we learn when acting together? What shared concerns or living conditions assemble this “we”? By which practices are connections of solidarity strengthened and by which are boundaries of the common kept open? The artistic-academic symposium sharing/learning will question and test various ways of acting together by addressing the specific conditions, means, and experiences of artistic, scientific, and activist methods of the collective.
The symposium itself is understood as an assembly to discuss, sound out, and try various practices. It is an offer to participate and at the same time explore what emerges in this setting. In this way, the performativity and the intentions of collective practices come into focus: How and for what reasons do people gather, speak, listen to, play, map, cook, question, touch, sing, etc.? What knowledge is thus generated, what potential unfolds?
In a format weaving together discussion and practice through workshops, roundtables, and participatory actions over two days, our intention is to create a space that opens up the possibility of reassembling various collective methods, and of sharing these with each other and learning from one another.
