On the occasion of his 90th birthday AfricAvenir? presents “Lumumba” , Raoul Peck’s great film about one of the most important figures of African history of the 20th century which has long been a classic. Congo 1960. Patrice Lumumba , a young nationalist, is elected the first president in the newly independent state . But barely two months later, Lumumba is abducted with strong support from Europe and the US and gets killed .
