We are thrilled to announce our new C& Artists' Edition with Agnes Waruguru!

<span lang="EN-US">Agnes Waruguru’s </span><span lang="EN-US">edition for </span> C& <span lang="EN-US">entitled </span><span lang="EN-US">Messengers of a Midnight dream</span><span lang="EN-US">, was hand printed by the artist </span><span lang="EN-US">at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, where Waruguru currently lives. It depicts typical dutch clouds, plants that the artist can see from her studio and a dreamscape of walking on stars with mystical messengers.</span>

<div><span lang="EN-US">About the Artist</span></div>

<span lang="EN-US">Agnes Waruguru (b. 1994 Nairobi, Kenya) </span> <span lang="EN-US">is an artist living and working in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Waruguru’s work ranges from painting, drawing, printmaking, needlework and installation. The materiality of objects in space is at the core of her explorations, which are intimately rooted in personal identity politics, often referencing women’s practices and traditional cultural identifiers. Her work often appears abstract but they are a mix of memory and place. She draws from personal experience to create new landscapes which can often be memory or emotion scapes. They can be read as poetry, they invite you to look slowly, imagine and explore.</span>

<span lang="EN-US">Waruguru received a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design, USA. Her work has been exhibited in America, France, South Africa and Kenya. She has participated in residencies in Kenya and Sydney, Australia and took part in the Saba Artists Residency in Lamu. Waruguru participated in the inaugural edition of the Stellenbosch Triennale, South Africa, 2020. She had her first solo show “Small things to Consider” at Circle art gallery in September 2020. Her work is currently showing in “A bit of unruly complexity” at SANATORIUM Gallery in Istanbul. She has been nominated for the Volkskrant Beeldende Kunst Prijs 2022, and will be showing in her first museum show at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. She is currently in residency at the Rijksakademie(2021-2023). </span>

<span lang="EN-US">C& Artists’ Editions is a program of specially commissioned editions by collaborating artists who have been part of the C& network since its launch in 2013. C& Artists’ Editions offers an accessible, collectible portfolio of works by younger and older generations of artists from Africa and the Global Diaspora. All proceeds directly support the artists and C&’s future program.</span>
