Mohssin Harraki: Greffer, Espalier, Dresser
For his first solo exhibition at L'appartement 22, Mohssin Harraki produces a set of new works titled Greffer, Espalier, Dresser. Each of the three large drawings on sheet metal, besides the book of thirty pages realized with the same material, mixes the techniques of drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. In Greffer, Espalier, Dresser the artist continues his investigations of the family tree as a symbol of patrilineal history and its transmission, to be found particularly in textbooks. Harraki expands the botanical metaphor of the family tree by exploring the process of the transplant as "a kind of forced education [...] to aim for what we want, all far from the nature of things" (Mohssin Harraki, 21 May 2014.) Curator of the exhibition: Emma Chubb Opening June 25, 2014 at 6:30 pm in the presence of the artist. www.appartement22.com
