Iwalewahaus Summer Exhibitions
This summer the Iwalewahaus presents four exhibitions, which will run parallel to each other.
Spaces – Perception. Reflection. Intervention
The artists Ammar Abo Bakr, Engy Aly, Medhat Amin, Andeel, Amr El Alamy, Ganzeer, Yara Mekawei, Monti, Ahmad Nady, Islam Shabana and Shennawy shows imagined, physical and virtual spaces to address the constant negotiation of public and urban space. They bring in bring in historical, cultural and economic perspectives.
The power of words
This exhibition is an audio-visiual portrait of the journalist Ruth Weiss. Visitors are invited to dive into the stories and thinking of Miriam Makeba, Oliver Tambo, Kenneth Kaunda, Libertine Amathila und Nadine Gordimer.
Constellations - Floating Space, Motion and Remembrance
In her art, Ndidi Dike uses various media to address migration politics, consumption, transnationalism and globalization. She powerfully reminds the visitors of the violent histories and presents that force mobility upon people.
Floating Bodies
Talya Lubinsky's exhibition is based on the story of her grandfather. She explores stories of flight of Jewish Europeans to South Africa in the 1930s.
